Our Mission

We exist to glorify God by helping people know Jesus, follow Jesus, and love like Jesus.

Glorify

“to glorify God”

This is why God created us - to glorify Him. This is reflected in the greatest commandment in the New Testament - “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30). Nothing is more important in a person’s life.

Know

“helping people know Jesus”

To know that Jesus is the way, and the truth, and the life (John 14:6). We seek for a person to not know about Jesus, but to personally know Jesus in a saving relationship.

Follow

“follow Jesus”

When a person truly knows Jesus, you will follow Him for you hear His voice. You apply the truths He taught to your life as learned from God’s Word. When this happens, you experience growth in Christ.

Love

love like Jesus”

Jesus provides the greatest example of love the world has ever known. Jesus’ love is a perfect love; a radical love that the world does not know. God has a goal of conforming us to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29), which includes to love like Jesus.

What we believe...

(For a list of supporting Bible verses, click the “Read more” button below to read the the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.)

  • About the Bible

We believe the Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any error and is the final authority of all matters in faith and life.

  • About the Trinity

We believe in the one living triune God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — these three being identical in divine essence, co-equal in power and glory, and possessing precisely the same attributes and perfections.

  • About God the Father

He is the first Person of the triune Godhead and serves as its functional head. He is an infinite, personal Spirit and has been identified as “Father” from eternity past, both to His Son and to His chosen people.

  • About God the Son

He is the second Person of the triune Godhead, Jesus Christ, and has existed eternally as the Son of God. At a specific time in human history, Jesus became a man, without ceasing to be God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin in order to reveal God and redeem fallen humanity. He accomplished this redemption by voluntarily giving Himself as a sinless substitutionary sacrifice on the cross thereby satisfying God’s righteous judgment against sin. He gave proof that He accomplished that redemption by His bodily resurrection from the grave. He then ascended to the right hand of the Father where He intercedes on behalf of His people.

  • About God the Holy Spirit

He is the third Person of the triune Godhead who convicts the world of sin. He alone brings new life to those who are spiritually dead and He places all believers into the one true church, which is the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells permanently in believers and seals them unto the day of redemption, and bestows spiritual gifts upon them.

  • About the Human Condition

We believe Adam and Eve were the pinnacle of God’s creation and were created in His image and were without sin when created. Adam, however, disobeyed God and his sin against God resulted in all of humanity being separated from God in a fallen state, eternally. Every person has inherited a sinful nature from Adam, and is born spiritually dead, apart from God. Humanity is incapable, through any action of its own, to repair the broken relationship with God and is totally dependent on a divine Redeemer.

  • About Salvation

We believe in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus was sent by God to save us and give us eternal life. Salvation is only possible through faith in Jesus and repentance of our sins. We understand that we are saved through grace and not by any works of our own. The Bible teaches us that no matter what mistakes we make, God’s love and grace are always available to us. We believe that through accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are able to have the assurance of salvation and the promise of eternal life with God.

  • About the Church

We believe that the Church is a living organism made up of believers of every tribe, language, people, and nation who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ alone as Savior. The Church began on the day of Pentecost and will continue its distinct purpose in this present age until Christ’s return. We believe that the Church exists in both a universal aspect, as the Body of Christ, and in a local assembly of believers in Jesus Christ.

  • About the Ordinances

We believe that Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for His Church:

Baptism – We believe that Christian baptism is a person’s public declaration of having accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. Baptism is by immersion in water of an adult believer in the name of the Triune God.

Lord’s Supper – We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus Christ for commemoration of His death which established the New Covenant. Under the New Covenant, we are given the opportunity to receive salvation as a free gift. The elements of bread and juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. The Lord’s Supper is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross. This ordinance should be observed until the Lord returns.

  • About the Future Coming of Christ

We believe that the next major event in God’s prophetic calendar is the Rapture of the Church. The Rapture will occur when living and dead believers are caught up to meet the Lord, receive rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ and be present with Christ for eternity.

  • About the Eternal State

We believe that at death the soul of a person who has trusted Jesus Christ for salvation passes immediately into His presence and there remains in conscious bliss until the resurrection of the body at His coming for the Church, when soul and body reunited shall be associated with Him forever in glory. We believe that the soul of an unbeliever remains after death in a state of conscious misery until the final judgment of the great white throne, when soul and body reunited shall be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to be separated from God forever in conscious punishment.

Our Pastor

Dave Haase has been pastor at Pacific Heights Baptist Church since June 2022. Before being called as pastor, he was a member of Fellowship of Wildwood in Wildwood, MO, for about seven years where he led several different small groups in Bible teaching and discipleship courses, and also served as an ordained deacon.

After graduating from Bradley University with a B.S. in Business Management, Dave began a career in Supply Chain Management that spanned more than twenty-five years. Towards the end of that career, the Lord led Dave onto a different path for his life. After a period of time, it became clear that he was being called into ministry.

Dave graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological seminary with a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree in December 2020. He was licensed in April 2021 and ordained in November 2021 for The Gospel Ministry by Fellowship of Wildwood in Wildwood, MO.

Teaching and applying the truth of God’s Word is Dave’s passion. This is done primarily through expository preaching and in small group teaching sessions. Dave desires to help people better understand the Bible and the life saving and transforming power it can have in their life. The central message of the Bible is clear and understandable – God desires for us to know Him and enter into a saving relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ!

Dave is happily married to Lynn and they have one adult child.
